Vuur en Vlees – Fest in den biergarten
7 PM untill 1 AM
This years events will be held in our Beer Garden. Completely in the Oktoberfest mood, with beer mugs,
large pieces of meat on a spit and of course great music.
A great party where food, as you are used from us, is central.

Sunday October 24th 2021
11AM untill 17 PM
KCBS Contest
Like every year, De Reizende Man, is organizing the Kansas City Barbecue Society (KCBS) International BBQ “Vuur en Vlees” Contest this Year. Quite a mouthful, but can actually be summarized as an American-style barbecue competition in which 30 teams participate. The competition consists of five categories, which are: chicken, ribs, (pulled) pork, brisket and the Chef’s Choice. This year the Chef’s Choice will be: Wurst!
In the end the team with the highest average score will be the Grand Champion.

On Sunday the 30 teams do their utmost to serve all dishes in time and to convince the jury.
This is done anonymously, but after every categorie the teams will share there dishes with the visitors.
Come over, take a look and chat with the teams. They are happy to explain to you what they do deliver this quality.

The KCBS Contest”Vuur en Vlees” is from 12 AM untill 2 PM and therefore many dishes can be tasted during this time. During and after the contest we have our own stall with barbecue team “De Reizende Mannen”, where the tastiest dishes from the barbecue are served. And of course there will be music and drinks!

If you would like to come earlier, for example on Friday, than this is possible in consultation.
Each team had a place of 6 by 6 meters with electrical facilities available.
Provide your own power cables for your own space. There will be a common water point in the site.

11 AM untill 17 PM – Meat Check
17 PM– Cooks Meeting
00:00 – Everybody to the tents, no more music.
1 AM – Quiet time

12:00 – Handing in the first dish: Chicken
00:30 PM– Handing in the second dish: Ribs
1 PM – Handing in the third dish: Shoulder
1:30 PM  – Handing in the fourth dish: Brisket
2 PM  – Handing in the fifth dish: Chef’s Choice
6 PM – Award Ceremony BBQ Contest “Vuur en Vlees”

This year’s chef’s choice is: Wurst! The jury must see and taste that it is prepared on the barbecue. Wurst is an originally German cuisine. Worldwide, Germany therefore offers the largest selection of Wurst. From black pudding to WeissWurst (specialty in Munich and a sausage that even has a number of “eating rules”) and from bratwurst to currywurst. There are more than 1500 different typs of sausages. Everything is allowed, as long as it comes from the barbecue (grilled or smoked). The rest is entirely according to your own interpretation.

Unfortunately, it is no longer possible to participate in Vuur en Vlees this year.

Vuur en Vlees is a competition according to the rules of KCBS.

The “Reserve Grand Champion” wins € 50,00
Also you can win a cup in each categorie, if you make it to the first, second or third place.

The jury members are expected on Sunday October 24th at 9 AM and must then register.
A meeting for all jury members will take place at 10 AM.
